A trial and error journey to discover cold hardiness where only the fittest will survive hot temperatures, high humidity, and frosty nights in the teens, not to mention an onslaught of rock squirrels and cactus beetles.

| My wife likes eating pomegranates therefore our yard always has a few volunteers, like this one, coming up in a flowerbed some place. Extremely tough plants that can take heat, cold and drought. |
